Somewhere between the showroom and the first dinner party, every marble owner asks the same question: what would it cost to protect this properly? The honest answer is that nobody can give you a real number without seeing your surface, and anyone who does is guessing. Why there's no national price list
Stone protection film is measured against your benchtop and cut by hand on the day it's installed. There are no standard sheets and no templates, so there is no standard price. A straight galley run is a different job from an island with a waterfall edge, an undermount sink and a full-height splashback, even if the two kitchens have the same floor plan.
If you've been reading American sites, you'll see the same product called countertop protection film. Same film, same answer: it's quoted to the surface, not priced off a chart.
The five things that move a quote
Area. The total working surface is the starting point: benchtops, island tops, waterfall panels and splashbacks all count. More stone, more film, more cutting.
Cutouts. Sinks, cooktops, tap holes and powerpoint penetrations each get trimmed by hand so the film disappears at the opening. A bench with four cutouts is genuinely more work than the same bench with one.
Edge profile. Square, bullnose, mitred or shark-nose edges each change what happens at the perimeter, and the perimeter is where invisible work lives.
The stone and its finish. Polished stone takes gloss film, honed and matte stone takes satin. We confirm the match at the quote, on your actual stone, in your actual light.
What else joins the job. Vanities, marble tables and bar tops can be quoted as part of the same visit. One trip, one setup, one quote.

What a low number can leave out
Whatever quotes you collect, including ours, ask the same four questions. Is the film a non-yellowing class, and is that backed in writing? Do you see the warranty terms and exclusions before you pay? Are the edges hand-trimmed to your surface, or close enough? And if one section cops a hard life, can that panel be replaced on its own later, or is it the whole surface again?
A cheap number that fails those questions isn't cheap. Marble owners usually learn that once.
